The Release of Kamini’s Head Start Guarantee: When recycled impact comes full circle.

A powerful moment of progress has come full circle.

Recently, we celebrated the release of Kamini’s Head Start Guarantee a milestone that reflects not just one person’s journey, but the strength of a model designed to keep giving.

Kamini settled into her home in April 2024 after several years of steady commitment to our Empowerment Services. But her journey started long before that.

For decades, Kamini experienced housing instability - moving frequently, navigating uncertainty, and raising her son through constant change.
Despite this, she remained deeply determined to create something different for her future.

When she joined Head Start Homes in 2021, that determination found direction.

Through consistent effort - following her savings plan, building financial capability, and staying engaged through every challenge - she steadily transformed her circumstances.

A moment of independence

In 2026, together with our partner St.George Bank, we formally released her guarantee - recognising the strength and stability she has built over time.

For Kamini, this is more than a financial milestone.

It represents independence. Confidence. And something even deeper: a shift from surviving to self‑determination.

As Kamini shared in her journey, she has moved from “just existing” to feeling “driven” and “more confident” in her life.

Her home is not just a place - it is stability, pride, and the ability to shape her own future.

A model that keeps giving

But this moment also tells a bigger story.

It demonstrates something critical to how Head Start Homes works: our impact doesn’t end with one household.

The guarantee that once supported Kamini - originally funded through our partnership with St.George Bank and Lendlease - has now been released and returned.

That same capital can now be re‑deployed to support the next family on their pathway to home ownership.

This is what we mean by recyclable impact.

Instead of being consumed, funding is activated, proven, and then reused - creating system‑level efficiency while maintaining human‑centred outcomes.

The released funds will now continue supporting our Empowerment Services, extending the reach of the original investment well beyond a single transaction.

The shift we’re building

This is the shift we’re working towards:

  • Where support leads to stability

  • Stability leads to independence

  • And independence creates opportunity for others

Moments like this affirm our people before property approach.

They show that when households are given the right preparation, safeguards, and time, home ownership becomes:

  • Sustainable for families and their communities

  • And regenerative for the system

With gratitude

We extend our sincere thanks to Kamini - whose resilience, discipline, and commitment have made this milestone possible, and whose journey continues to inspire others.

We’re also deeply grateful Rose Pan and the Westpac team, to Jessie Lenson and the Lendlease team, Val Naumovski and the St.George Bank team, and - not only for their shared belief in this model, but for the role they played in helping make it happen. This is what it looks like when cross sector collaboration takes place to make the world a better place.

This milestone reflects what’s possible when we combine human determination with collaborative design - and when we invest in people, not just property.

One journey completed. Many more made possible.
