Introducing Bianca: Yuin and Dunghutti artist behind our new Hello Home Flyer

Head Start Homes recently commissioned the very talented Bianca Bettley, a Yuin, Dunghutti woman, to create the artwork for our new Home Ownership information flyer template.

Bianca shares her unique and powerful story through her art, and we were blown away by her ability to convey such a powerful message in the process.

Having moved around a lot when growing up , Bianca knows what it’s like to search for a place to call home, just like so many of our clients. She has embedded her personal history into the artwork, using her artistic voice to support her fellow members of the Indigenous community as they strive to break the cycle of disadvantage and become homeowners.

“The footprints represent one’s journey to finding their own home,” Bianca explained.

“The background dots represent the chaos of our lives that impact our journey to owning our home, but the colours represent the good and the bad of the chaos that surrounds us.

“This is the same for our journey to buying that home. Sometimes we start in a dark place, but as we get closer, our world becomes brighter because we know we will soon have a place to call home after the journey.”

The culturally inclusive flyers aim to promote home ownership through HSH, and will be distributed to partner organisations, key stakeholders including the Wollongong community.
