Reconciliation Week 2026 - All In
Head Start Homes Recognises National Reconciliation Week
This year’s theme, “All In,” calls on all of us to commit to reconciliation through everyday action, not just words.
At Head Start Homes, this is not something we observe for one week alone.
It is something we live every day, in how we listen, how we learn, and how we walk alongside First Nations families on their pathway to home ownership.
Listening and Learning in Practice
As part of our “All In” commitment, we brought our team together for a dedicated Reconciliation Week event focused on listening and learning.
We were honoured to have Chontell join us, our very first homeowner and a proud First Nations woman.
Chontell shared her experiences, her journey, and what meaningful support looks like from her perspective.
Our team listened deeply, taking the time to reflect and learn in a way that strengthens how we show up for the families we support.
Moments like this matter, because reconciliation is built through connection, humility and a willingness to keep learning.
A Story of Possibility
Chontell’s story is one of what becomes possible with the right support, belief and opportunity.
Before connecting with Head Start Homes, home ownership didn’t feel possible.
Like many of our client families, generational experiences in social housing, rising costs of living, and limited access to clear, practical information made the goal feel out of reach.
With the right support, guidance and belief, that changed.
Today, Chontell speaks about home ownership as something much deeper than a financial milestone.
It has brought stability and security for her and her children.
It has created a safe place to call home.
And it has built a level of confidence that continues to shape her future.
“Anything is possible. Don’t count yourself out.”
– Chontell was proud to tell us.
Walking Alongside Families
At Head Start Homes, we are proud to walk alongside families in a way that is culturally informed, holistic and grounded in trust.
Our approach supports families to build financial capability, strengthen savings, and become mortgage and home ownership ready.
As Chontell reflected, what mattered most was not just the outcome, but the journey:
“They walked with me, every step of the way.”
Our Ongoing Commitment
We believe home ownership is more than bricks and mortar.
It is stability. It is dignity. It is a place to belong.
And for many families, it is a powerful step toward healing and self-determination.
This week and always, we reaffirm our commitment to reconciliation:
Listening deeply
Learning continuously; and
Working together to create fair, practical pathways grounded in respect.
Because reconciliation requires all of us, all in.
